Jessica has worked in the field of psychology and psychotherapy since 1983. She started out working as a counsellor in therapeutic communities for psychiatric outpatients and for those with addictions. She has also worked with ex offenders, managed a mental health charity in the inner city, and carried out research on social issues impacting Londoners. From 2000 to 2012 Jessica worked in the NHS offering complex trauma assessments, psychotherapy, supervision and training of GP counsellors, psychologists and mental health nurses. She also coordinated the Childhood Sexual Abuse Focus Group, a multidisciplinary task group in the NHS which improved services for NHS patients disclosing historical abuse, by offering staff training and raising awareness of the issues.
Jessica qualified as a psychotherapist in 1991 and has been registered with the UKCP and UKAHPP since 1994. She is an EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant with masters degrees in psychology and psychological trauma. She has a particular interest in the nature of oppression and the elements that encourage freedom and compassionate relating. Jessica enjoys writing and presenting her work at conferences.
